National Women's Go Gliding Weekend
27th - 28th April 2024

On the weekend of 27th and 28th April, the National Women’s Go Gliding Weekend comes to gliding clubs all over the country, giving women and girls of all ages the opportunity to try gliding.

 

Banbury Gliding Club is participating in the National Women’s Go Gliding Weekend on Saturday 27th April and you can have your first gliding lesson on that day.

 

There will be two sessions, morning and afternoon where we will show you what to expect as a member of the Banbury Gliding Club.  We will take you through life at the club, how we operate, and how you are guided throughout your gliding career.  Costs will be discussed as well as the various roles in the club that keep everything running smoothly.

After a safety briefing and a trip to the the launch point, you will be shown the aircraft – and receive your first briefing from your instructor.  You and your instructor will then be launched behind our Eurofox 915 tug to a suitable height for you to be taught some basic manoeuvres.  As this is a lesson, with the support of the instructor, you will do most of the flying yourself; your instructor will manage the take off and landings…

 

The cost for this session will be £50.  This will include your membership for the day, your flight and refreshments.  There will be a BBQ available for you to purchase hot food if you so desire.

 

Places are limited to 8 per session.  If the weather is against us, we will still run the day but reorganise your flights for another time.

 

And finally, if you decide to take out a full membership with Banbury Gliding Club before the end of June 2024, we will credit £50 to your flying account.
